Question: How long are science in the news talks?

Answer: A Science in the News talk runs 1 hour total (45 minutes of presentation, plus 15 minutes of questions).

Question: How many presenters are there for each science in the news talk?

Answer: Each Science in the News presentation is given by three Speakers and one Coordinator.

Question: I’m an undergraduate. Can I present for YSC?

Answer: Only Yale graduate and professional students and postdoctoral researchers can present for us. But, if you’re an undergraduate who’s interested in getting involved, we’re currently looking for Contributors! Send us an email if you’re interested in writing an article for our website.

Answer: YSC talks are given in libraries, communities, bars, Zoom meetings, and more! Check out our upcoming events to find out when and where we’re doing our next talk.

Question: How can I become a Coordinator for YSC?

Answer: We are always looking for Coordinators! If you are interested, please fill out the form on our website or our Campus Groups page.

Question: Who are the speakers for YSC talks?

Answer: YSC speakers are Yale graduate and professional school students and postdoctoral scholars. They typically speak about a topic they research, so you will be hearing science first-hand from an expert!

Question: What’s the difference between Science in the News and Science @ Brewery?

Answer: They’re two different types of presentations that we offer, and tend to have different formats and audiences. We’ve historically given Science in the News talks to library audiences, and Science @ Brewery talks at local bars in New Haven.
